More leading international clothing brands sign up for Westfield Mall of the Netherlands

    Sep 19, 2019

Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield today reveals that leading international clothing brands Hunkemöller, Scotch & Soda, Timberland and Nelson Premium have signed up for its Westfield Mall of the Netherlands development.

The latest signings will see Westfield Mall of the Netherlands become the go-to destination for the latest fashion trends upon completion in 2020. The 117,000 square meter (sqm) retail concept, which is unique in the Netherlands, represents a €590 Mn development.

The best and most varied streetwear offer in the Netherlands

Hunkemöller, Scotch & Soda, Timberland and Nelson Premium join the growing list of brands that will open stores in Westfield Mall of the Netherlands. Visitors will enjoy the best, most up-to-date and varied streetwear offer in the Netherlands, where the demand for streetwear has strongly increased, especially due to special product launches and collaborations with well-known designers and influencers.

A location with the best mix of shops, food and relaxation

Of the new signings announced today, Nelson Premium will be the largest store, with a floor space of 514 sqm. Hunkemöller will occupy 301 sqm, Scotch & Soda 178 sqm and Timberland 70 sqm. All stores will be fitted with 7.5-meter-high iconic store fronts. The leading international clothing brands have chosen Westfield Mall of the Netherlands for its ideal retail, food and relaxation mix. The complete renovation of Westfield Mall of the Netherlands will be completed in 2020, when more than 280 stores, restaurants, leisure and entertainment outlets will be open to the public.

    Powerful and growing portfolio

Many retailers and restaurants have already been announced prior to the international clothing brands confirmed today, including fashion retailers The Sting / Costes, Calzedonia, Intimissimi, Asics and Clarks. The new signings also complement the brands of the world's largest fashion company, Inditex, which recently signed contracts for well-known fashion names Zara, Bershka, Pull & Bear and Stradivarius. A deal has also been signed with MediaMarkt, which will open a 3,271 sqm store in the centre. Further additions to the already powerful portfolio will be announced soon.

Bart van Twillert, Regional Managing Director, Netherlands, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, says: “We are delighted that we can share these latest additions to Westfield Mall of the Netherlands with Dutch consumers. Streetwear is a market that is getting bigger and bigger and it is a fashion trend that is also being taken more seriously by designers. With the new stores announced today, we will offer Dutch fashion lovers and streetwear fans the latest trends. The enthusiasm for our retail concept is a clear indication that there is a strong need among the major international clothing brands for a stage like Westfield Mall of the Netherlands.”

The first Westfield flagship shopping centre in the Netherlands

The centre will be the first new Westfield branded development to open in the Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield portfolio, bringing the power of an international brand well-known for its flagship destinations. Like the Group’s other flagship shopping centres, Westfield Mall of the Netherlands will offer visitors more than just stores. In addition to the already opened food market, FRESH!, the destination will also feature a 10-screen Kinepolis cinema.

Everything is dedicated to an optimal visitor experience

Whether visitors come from further afield, or from the direct surroundings of Leidschendam, they will enjoy an optimal experience. Bicycles can be stored for free in one of the 1,500 bicycle racks, while 4,000 free parking spaces have been created for cars; traffic will be distributed over five parking locations around the shopping centre through an innovative flow management system. Westfield Mall of the Netherlands is centrally located in the ‘Randstad’ (comprising the main cities of Rotterdam, the Hague, Amsterdam and Utrecht), with 2.9 million people living within half an hour and 6.1 million people within an hour’s distance. Three tram lines and two bus lines stop at the location, which is also served by a train station (The Hague Mariahoeve), while three nearby motorways ensure good accessibility by car.

Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield has previously announced that visitors to Westfield Mall of the Netherlands will be able to use a number of free services to provide an even better shopper experience, including Wi-Fi and charging points for telephones and laptops. The destination will also offer a free personal shopper service. Other important facilities include free, accessible restrooms and play areas for children.
